Video News Star Citizen 4.7 is WAY more than I expected… - Ollie43

Star Citizen Patch 4.7 has finally arrived, and it may be one of the most content-packed system updates the game has ever seen. This overview covers everything announced along with my firsthand experience from the Evocati build. Due to NDA restrictions I can’t show gameplay footage yet, but I can share what players can expect when the update goes live.

The biggest addition is Rockcracker Operations, a brand-new dungeon-style activity tied to asteroids throughout the Nyx system. What initially seems like a simple mining mission quickly turns into something far more complex. These locations are massive multi-level environments featuring combat encounters, puzzles, zero-G sections, and even a monorail system. In total, patch 4.7 introduces 110 Rockcracker locations: 60 exclusive sites, 30 contested areas, and 20 general mission locations. The gameplay loop ultimately leads to firing a powerful laser to crack open the asteroid and extract valuable resources inside — making it feel like a true large-scale MMO activity.

Another major feature arriving in 4.7 is the full introduction of crafting. In my early testing, the system already feels surprisingly engaging. Players will gather materials, dismantle gear, and craft items that can have unique stats and variations. I’ll be releasing a full crafting guide once the PTU becomes available. Alongside crafting, the inventory system is receiving a complete overhaul. While it may not be the flashiest change, it’s a fundamental improvement that every player will notice immediately. The mining economy is also being rebalanced across all refinable resources to better integrate with the new Rockcracker gameplay loop.

Patch 4.7 also brings a long list of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Issues addressed include blank MFD displays, mobiGlas scrolling problems, fixes for ARGO MOTH salvage and co-pilot functionality, the Klescher escape fan, jump gate black screen errors, and many more.

Wave 1 PTU access should be arriving soon, and once it does I’ll be able to share full gameplay footage and deeper breakdowns of the new systems.
